Here's what to know before stepping into MakerStudio at New Appleby Branch.

What should I do before booking?

Research the equipment and software, watch tutorials, and outline your project. Coming prepared will save you time and frustration.

How long can I book a studio?
Each person can book for up to six hours per week. Bookings take place in 30-minute blocks, up to three hours at a time. Be sure to plan your session so you can make the most of your production time.

Can I bring my own gear?

You are welcome to bring your own cameras, instruments, microphones, and cable. We just ask that you plan enough time to properly set up and pack up within your booking time.

Do staff help me in the studio?

No—these are self-directed spaces. Library staff cannot provide training or troubleshooting, so be sure to learn the tools ahead of time.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes! Each studio seats up to two people, so you can work solo or with a partner.

Can I bring food with me?

No! Due to the sensitive nature of the equipment all food is prohibited in the space. You may bring a lidded water bottle.

What happens if something goes wrong?

Since library staff can’t assist, you’ll need to solve issues on your own. It’s a good idea to test your setup early in your session.
