Starting September 17, 2025, users of OverDrive/Libby eBook and audiobook collections will no longer be able to select an end date for their hold suspension.
Instead, you will be able to Suspend or Unsuspend a hold.
When you decide you want to unsuspend your hold, you must manually select Unsuspend.
If your hold is delivered to your account and you miss its delivery, your hold will automatically go back to a suspended status until you unsuspend it again.
When this change takes effect in September, any holds you currently have suspended will stay suspended. To make a hold active again, go to your account and select Unsuspend.
Important!
- A hold is automatically cancelled if it is suspended for 365 consecutive days.
- You will see an alert in your OverDrive/Libby account when a suspended hold has 30 days remaining before being cancelled.
- Suspend/Unsuspend replaces Deliver Later in the Libby app.
OverDrive is introducing this change so that copies of holds are freed up faster for users who are deep on the waitlist, and so users aren’t offered a hold again until they’re ready for it.
