Please call us to find out the replacement cost for a lost/damaged item and the details for replacing it.  

If you've misplaced the item but think you might find it later, try renewing the item so that it stays on your account while you continue searching. At 30-days overdue, our system will automatically charge the replacement fee to your account.  

Two options are available for replacing lost/damaged items:

  1. You can pay for the item at any Burlington Public Library branch using cash, debit, or credit.

  2. A Like-For-Like replacement can be purchased and taken to your local branch. Please see conditions below if selecting this option:
  • Item must be in brand new condition.
  • Item must be in the same format as the original item (examples: hardcover, paperback, large print, DVD, Blu-ray, specific videogame platform).
  • ISBN/UPC must match that of the lost/damaged item.
  • DVDs/Videogames/Books-on-CD/CDs must be in original plastic-wrapped packaging to be considered new. 

Please note that once an item has been paid for or replaced with a like-for-like replacement, there are no refunds if the item is found and returned. If you find the book after it's been paid for/replaced, you're welcome to keep the item.
