We have not charged daily overdue fines since March 2020. We do charge fees for lost or damaged items. An item is considered 'lost' when it is 30 days overdue. At that time the replacement fee is automatically billed to your account. If you have been charged a replacement fee, that fee will disappear as soon as the item has been checked in. Once you return an item, please allow at least 1-2 days for returned items to complete the check-in routine. Items are typically checked in during this period.

 

The best way to avoid overdue notices (and replacement fees) is to renew items on or before their due date. You can do this in your My BPL online account. Most items can be renewed 10 times, for up to 21 days each time.
